  Twitter said on Tuesday that Elon Musk, the CEO of Tesla, had been elected to its board. This news comes a day after Musk became Twitter’s top shareholder after purchasing a 9.2% stake in the social media network. The CEO of Twitter, Parag Agrawal, expressed his “excitement” at Musk’s decision to join the board of directors on Twitter on Tuesday. “It became evident to us via conversations with Elon in recent weeks that he would offer enormous value to our board,” he said.

According to the US Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) 13G filing made public on Monday, Mr. Musk holds 73,486,938 shares of Twitter, or 9.2% of the business. He had lately questioned if Twitter upheld the values of free speech.

Musk had tweeted in March that he was “seriously considering” developing a new social media platform.

“Since Twitter has become the de facto public town square, ignoring the norms of free speech profoundly threatens democracy. What ought to be done?

He tweeted, “Is a new platform required? Musk said he was excited to work with the Twitter board to make big improvements after being named to the board.He wrote in a tweet that he was eager to work with Parag and the Twitter board to improve the service significantly in the upcoming months. According to the Bloomberg Billionaire Index, Musk has a net worth of $273 billion, making him the richest person on earth.
